Alva Arrives

Here she is... for some reason the photos have been turned 90 degrees. Just turn your head so that her nose is below both of her eyes, and you'll be looking at her properly.

We got her home, set up her bed with her blanket from Cathy's. She's curled up and sleeping on one of our cushions instead. Not that I mind, but we *did* buy her the bed specifically.

Hidden treasures appear while unpacking!

I was unpacking my books today, when I came across a very special document.

A lot of my friends now didn't know me then (in fact, none of the Voxerhood did), some of them couldn't make it, but these are the vows that Don and I wrote for our wedding:

Like the roots of the great trees of the forest
I am intertwined with you
Like the river flows on a path set by its bed
I shape you, and you shape me
Like the light and the darkness
Our differences give birth to tremendous beauty
Like the notes of a song
When we are together, we are more than both of us apart
Like the muscle and bone of my body

Like the light of the sun on a summer's day

Like the beautiful paintings on the walls of the world

I have to say, I'm very proud of this piece of writing, as much for being able to say it now like I said it 3 years ago as for the intrinsic beauty of the words.

What do you tend to worry about in the middle of the night?

Usually whatever I'm worrying about in the middle of the day. Seriously, I don't tend to have trouble sleeping unless I'm already very preoccupied during the day.

We Own a House

and 300K in debt. But we own a house!

I have keys! (not that it overly matters since Don's changing the front and back locks today so that they will both use the same key)

I'd take a picture of something to prove it... but I don't have anything to take a picture of.

We move in this weekend! VERY excited!

Has anyone not? Accidentally, I mean. Yes, I've burned myself - fat, water, caramel, hotplates, oven trays, wax. And the list will only get longer as I get older, I'm sure.

Meeting Alva

Well, that worked surprisingly well!

Meet Alva (formally Schneewichen Rosebud Hevn "Alva"), my little girl. I pick her up the weekend after we move into the house! in the top set of photos, there are two puppies... Alva, and her sister Livia. They're 9 weeks old at the moment. Aren't they cuuuuuuuuute! :D

The breeder ~~is a retired vet nurse~~ (edit: she's done vet nursing, but see her response (Cathy Davies)), has beautifully trained dogs, and obviously loves them dearly. We talked for just on 2 hours, about what's involved with Maltese, etc etc. (oh, and just in case you hadn't figured it out, She's a Maltese.

Well folks, our contract goes unconditional tomorrow at midday when I sign the loan papers!

We take ownership on 22 June! Hooray!
